The Cottenham Village Society was formed in late 1970, its aims being:
- to stimulate public interest in and care for the beauty, history and character of the village and its surroundings
- to encourage the preservation, development and improvement of features of general public amenity or historic value
- to encourage high standards of architecture and village planning in the Parish of Cottenham and also by supporting other village groups
- to pursue those ends by means of meetings, exhibitions, lectures and promotion of schemes of a charitable nature
The society has a programme of events throughout the year and produces occasional publications .
A group of members of the society are archiving pictures of Cottenham which are placed upon the Cambridgeshire Community Archives website. http://www.ccan.co.uk
